Nigerians have been warned against consumption of ‘suya and boli’.

The President, Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Nigeria President, Prof Musa Borodo, gave this warning at a press briefing commemorating the 10th Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting of the association in Ado Ekiti

Borodo warned that diseases such as colorectal cancer, liver cancer, helicobacter pyloris and other infections that occur in the gastrointestinal tract were usually not easy to detect when looking out for signs and symptoms.

He added that when the symptoms were obvious, they were often too late to treat.

According to him, about 10 percent of people in Nigeria are suffering from Hepatitis B – a viral infection – which he warned could lead to cancer, if not properly treated.

“This (Hepatitis B) is something that can be prevented, if you don’t treat it, it could become cancer. So, it is a huge problem,” he saidSpeaking on the theme, “Gastrointestinal Malignancies in Africa: Past, Present and Future,” Borodo said it was chosen to create awareness on early detection of cancer, prevention and cure.

“The forum is to increase knowledge, expertise and foremost research of interests in diseases affecting alimentary canal,” he added.

Borodo lamented that two cases of cancer at end stage are reported daily in the treatment centre.

He advised people to take natural foods, avoid refined sugar, eat well, exercise regularly, drink clean water, visit hospitals for routine check up and stay away from smoking to avoid cancer, saying, “taking burnt boli (plantain), burnt suya and refined drinks as they could cause cancer.

On his part, the Consultant General Surgeon, Lagos State University, Teaching Hospital, Dr. Mobolaji Oludara, lamented the rot of equipment, training and materials in handling liver transplant in Nigeria.

“We have an interest in him. I think, for now, he wants to stay in Europe.

Our doors are open for a player like that. We have rights to him in our league. We’ll see where that goes.”

Anthony Joshua produced the performance of his career to add the WBA world heavyweight title to his IBF crown with an enthralling knockout win over Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium.

A post-war record 90,000 fans at the national stadium were treated to a see-saw contest, Joshua dropping the former unified world champion in the fifth round, before being put down - for the first time in his 19-fight career - in the sixth.

Both men looked in danger of being stopped over two rounds which will live long in the memory, before Joshua delivered the clinical blows in the 11th

The Briton landed a brutal uppercut which gave him the platform to send Klitschko down with an immediate flurry.

The Ukrainian stood, was dropped by a left hook again moments later, then stood again, only for referee David Fields to save him when pinned against the ropes.

Joshua threw his arms into the air as roars rolled down the Wembley tiers. He had come through his stiffest test to date, while Klitschko too had answered questions, showing he remains competitive at world level, even at 41.

He will rue not finishing the job when he floored Joshua and appeared tantalisingly close to reclaiming two of the titles he lost in his last fight against Tyson Fury in 2015.

At the time of the stoppage, Joshua was up 96-93 and 95-93 on two cards, with Klitschko leading 95-93 on the other.

Fayose attacking Buhari with devastating blows, upper cuts at every opportunity – Dele Momodu

“Several times, Fayose has declared Buhari dead or incapacitated only to get egged on his face as the President rises like the proverbial Lazarus.

“He never gets tired of quoting impeccable sources and swearing and threatening to release damaging proof of his false doomsday prophesies.

“So far, so good, he’s been dead wrong at every turn!

“Even if not entirely hale and hearty, Buhari continues to stand ramrod on his feet, albeit looking feeble and weak.

“There is no doubt that the President is presently enjoying better health than has been the case in the recent past.”
Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has revealed the physical side-effects to his celebrations from the touchline.

The Italian is known for his antics during every game, as he ‘kicked’ every ball and disputed every decision.

Conte, who has a strict regime to maintain his fitness, revealed he is aiming to calm down as he gets older, starting from the new season.

The 47-year-old said: “I finish the game and I’m destroyed. I think I lose 2-3 kilos during the game. For sure in the future my strength will be less and then maybe I will try to keep myself calm and more seated.”

The former Juventus and Italy coach, admits that his intensity comes from his career as a player. Conte inspired the Old Lady to five titles and the Champions League. He also reached the final of both the World Cup and European Championship with Italy.

“If you saw me as a footballer, when I played I always showed a great passion.” he added.

“You saw Antonio Conte during the game showing passion.

“The will to fight, to overcome difficulty with a run, with heart. When the technique doesn’t arrive at the best level, arrive with your heart, with head, with enthusiasm, with passion, with work.

“I think I transferred this to my coaching, but with more talent than I had as a player.”
Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to send Angel Di Maria to Barcelona, as well as £195million (€220m), in order to close their record-breaking deal for Neymar.

Diario AS reported on Friday, that the former Manchester United player could be used as part of the deal.

PSG see it as a way of avoiding paying Neymar’s transfer buy-out clause to the Spanish league and incurring a tax bill of over £62m.

Paying the buyout clause means PSG pay Neymar £195m and he then deposits the sum with the league to free him from his Barca contract.

This method of payment could drag them into a dispute with the French taxman, who will see passing of the money to Neymar as taxable income. The Brazil international could howver count the money as a gain in assets, that he could subsequently offset as a loss when he then pays it to the league.

This is reportedly why PSG are keen to persuade Barcelona, to treat the deal as a normal transfer and will offer Di Maria as a deal sweetener.

Barcelona are already planning for life without Neymar, having identified three players from the Premier League as his possible replacement.

Liverpool playmaker, Philippe Coutinho is a well-documented target, and the Catalans have seen their first bid rejected.

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, sidelined until September, would be another ambitious target and the Catalan club has identified a third valued commodity in Tottenham’s Dele Alli.

Armed with more than €200m, assuming Neymar’s buyout clause is triggered and with the window winding down, Barca will likely need to spend most of their windfall to prize any of the three Premier League stars from their clubs.

Metro cites French broadcaster, RMC, reports that Neymar is set to sign a five-year contract, with the Ligue 1 club set to finalise a deal with Barcaworth €222million on Monday or Tuesday.

The Uruguay striker says it will be a ‘pity’ if Neymar joins Paris Saint-Germain.

Suarez wants the Brazilian to stay, but will not hold it against Neymar if he moves to PSG.

“It will be a pity if he leaves Barcelona,” Suarez said at a press conference ahead of their match with Real Madrid.

If he leaves, it will not change our affection for him. We all want him to stay. He is one of the best three players in the world and we need to enjoy him.”
Liverpool playmaker, Philippe Coutinho, is reportedly ready to take a pay cut in order to force a move to Barcelona .

The Brazilian has been strongly linked with a move to the La Liga side, with the Reds reported to have already turned down one bid.

According to Spanish outlet, Sport, the player himself would be happy to earn a lower basic salary at the Camp Nou.
However, the contract would include significant bonuses, which could see him earn more than his current deal with the Premier League side.

Coutinho signed a new five-year deal at Anfield earlier this year, which sees him earning around £8million a year.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bayelsa State and former Security Adviser to Bayelsa State Government, Chief Richard Kpodoh has stated that anyone doubting the recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari is an “enemy of Nigeria.”

According to him, those wishing Buhari dead would be put to shame as the president’s mission to change Nigeria will be accomplished despite his health challenges.

Kpodoh said the various attempts by some opposition governors and politicians to rubbish the president over his ill health and wish him dead were wicked, ungodly and a deliberate display of hatred.

Kpodoh, while reacting yesterday to the controversy triggered by some opposition leaders over the reported lunch Buhari had with APC governors in London, said that the doubt expressed by the opposition governors was misplaced and wicked.

According to Kpodoh, “That person involved in distractions over Buhari’s health does not love Nigeria. For us, the progressives, Buhari will not die because God sent him to be President on a mission to deliver the masses from the clutches of the oppressive and corrupt politicians.

A lot of the people involved in casting doubt over the gradual recovery of the President are corrupt and are angry that he is recovering in line with the prayers of patriotic Nigerians.

“The rot in the polity is not the doing of the Buhari administration but that of the PDP. In the last few years, the Buhari administration has improved the foreign account savings which was depleted under past administrations.

“The Naira is gradually recovering against the Dollar. The people have discovered that the PDP administration looted the country to a fault. Buhari’s administration has stabilized the currency and gradually the oil boom is returning and the economy is back on track.

“We are of the belief that nobody can kill Buhari because he was chosen by God and the prayers of true Nigerians are covering him. Those wishing him dead are not God. God will protect him to complete his assignment.”
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is eager to return home after his medications in London.

He described the great improvement in the health of the president as indication that God is answering the prayers of millions of Nigerians.

His Chief Press Secretary, Mr Terver Akase, quoted him as making this comment shortly after he and other state Governors visited President Buhari at Abuja House in London.

He said the President was in high spirits when the Governors’ delegation arrived and held fruitful discussions and cracked jokes with the team.

“God has answered our prayers. It is one thing to pray and it is another for God to answer; so let us continue to pray. Our God is God of the beginning and the end. As He is healing Mr President, it is our duty to pray so that God will consummate the healing so that our President can come back.

He is eager to return and is very grateful to Nigerians for praying for him and he wishes us well”, the Governor stated.

Governor Ortom said, “President Buhari showed great concern about the security situation in Benue State and asked him how he was addressing the challenge, saying that he briefed the President on the efforts his administration has made to ensure peace in the state.”

The Governor urged the people of the state to continue to support the leadership of the country both at the federal and state levels to enable the government serve them better.
The Minister of National Security in Jamaica, Robert Montague, has announced that prisoners in the country are to be allowed conjugal visits.

According to The Observer newspaper, the Minister, who caused uproar on social media after his announcement, made this known while addressing participants at a Diaspora Conference in Kingston.

The Minister said he believes that allowing inmates to have sexual relations with their partners will be beneficial; adding that it was a ‘Christian thing’ to do.

He said: “I am determined and insistent that we are going to start conjugal visits and some persons ask me why, but we must treat (incarcerated persons) in a humane way.

“A lot of us (say) that we are Christians; but true Christianity is when you do for the least amongst us, so we are working on that.”

Following the announcement, human rights advocacy group known as, ‘Stand Up for Jamaica’ endorsed the plans to introduce conjugal visits in correctional facilities.

In a press statement, the group said it believes the move will help to further advance the rehabilitation of inmates.

According to the group, the increasing rehabilitation programmes in correctional institutions is critical in addressing some of the root causes of crime and changing the negative attitudes which make it difficult for offenders to return to the society as productive members.

It said: “conjugal visits will allow inmates to reconnect with their wives and strengthen their bond with their families.”

Another human right group, Jamaicans for Justice, has also supported to the plan to introduce conjugal visits in correctional facilities.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has reacted to social media attacks on his personality by a primary school teacher in Kwara state, Baba Biodun.

Biodun was arraigned yesterday before a Magistrate Court in Ilorin presided over by Ahmad Dasuki for allegedly calling Saraki a ‘Bastard’ and making inciting posts on Facebook against him.

This was consequent to a suit filed by Jimoh Adesina, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Following Biodun’s arraignment, it was rumoured in some quarters that he has been relieved of his appointment in the state civil service.

However, the Senate President who denied having any hand in Biodun’s arraignment also dismissed the sack rumours.

He said on Friday morning: “My attention has just been drawn to an entirely untrue story about a civil servant being sacked for criticizing me.

“As a public servant who has subjected me to the service of my country, I face criticism every day from many quarters.

“However, this does not deter me. It never has. I learn from the constructive criticisms, and continue to work with my colleagues in the Senate to pass our legislative agenda for all Nigerians.

“I use social media. As such, I am a firm believer in freedom of speech and the use of social media to air out views.

“Throughout my time in public office, I have never attempted to stifle anyone’s freedom to speak his/her mind. This can be said of my time as a Governor, as a first time Senator, and now as the Senate President. This will not change

“We all begged him to leave the driver alone since we are all going to their station, but he refused. Our bus somersaulted about three times. One of us died instantly.”

The Sector Commander of FRSC, Mrs Stella Uchegbu, while reacting to the incident absolved her men of wrongdoing.

MTN Nigeria for instance repatriated over $1.3 billion annually since 2006, or $13.92 billion between 2006 and 2016.

“Just for one company, the phenomenon constitutes a huge outflow that could pose challenges for Foreign exchange and National monetary ‎stability”

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has declared that the worst is over on the health of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Chief Odigie-Oyegun made this comment on Thursday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja while fielding questions from journalists on his recent visit to President Buhari in London in company of other party chieftains.

According to him, “There has been sufficient information given to the public. We want to confirm that Mr. President is convalescing very strongly.

“Right now, all he is doing is having enough rest as much he can to build up his energy and build up his stamina.

“But the worst is certainly over. Mr. President is going to come back and is going to face the responsibilities for which the people of this country elected him. I am glad to say that he is recovering beautifully,” he also said.

Asked to speak on the comment credited to Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State’s remarks that President Buhari was on a life-support machine, he said, “I hate to comment on anything the governor of Ekiti State says.

“When people have taken leave of common sense and all decency, when people have thrown overboard, basic cultural upbringing,

When people cease to have respect for elders and cease to have respect for the fact that an elder statesman who is also president of this nation is going through a serious health crisis and seek to make fun of it and seek to say things that are totally unbecoming.

The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a new twist on Thursday, when police sealed off the party’s secretariat at Adekunle Fajuyi Way in Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

Heavily armed mobile policemen had earlier in the day taken over the secretariat as two factions are claiming leadership of the party.

Prior to the Supreme Court judgement which affirmed the leadership of the National Caretaker Committee led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi, a faction loyal to the sacked Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff had been occupying the premises.

The faction chaired by Segun Adewale had also submitted candidates for the just concluded LG election in the state.
Buhari: Yari speaks on governors’ visit to President

Following the apex court’s ruling, the state executive led by Hon. Mashood Salvador is making moves to return to the secretariat, which it earlier vacated when the Appeal Court first affirmed Sheriff’s leadership.

It was a mild drama on Thursday as the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, was escorted to the commissioning of some projects in Rivers State by Minister for Transport, Rotimi Amaechi and Senator Magnus Abe.

It started when Amaechi stepped out of the Presidential Jet, with shouts of “the Lion” by APC faithful who besieged the airport, then next was Senator Magnus Ngei Abe.

Both Rivers APC leaders then walked down to where the chopper was waiting for Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

As the Acting President alighted from the Presidential Jet, he was received on hand by Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and a handful of traditional rulers and others who queued for a formal handshake with the visitor.

The climax was when Wike pointed at the already waiting BMW to chauffeur drive Osinbajo who insisted rather that they walked to the already waiting Chopper where Amaechi, Abe and others were already seated.

Wike worries were visible as he tried hard to convince the Acting President to go with him and commission just one project, but Osinbajo insisted that they head to the Chopper for the venue of the commissioning of the World standard Fertilizer project built by the INDORAMA Group.

Disappointed, the governor had to leave his aides, supporters and convoy behind and joined Osinbajo to the Chopper where APC faithful were already singing the praise of Amaechi.

As soon as the Acting President climbed into the Chopper and Wike made his way to join him, the youths began to boo him with shouts of, “Come down!, Come down!” while some others continued with shouts of “the Lion!” until the Chopper left.

More than 40 people have died during an attempt to free people during an ambush by militant Islam group Boko Haram, sources have told the JOYEXTRA

At least five members of an oil exploration team were killed, a spokesman for the University of Maiduguri said.

Soldiers and members of a vigilante group also died in the ambush.

The high number of casualties will be a blow for the government, which insists the insurgency is all but defeated.

At least 20,000 people have been killed and thousands more abducted since Boko Haram launched its insurgency in 2009.

In the most notorious abduction case, it seized 276 girls from a boarding school in the north-eastern town of Chibok in 2014.

It has since freed more than 100 of the girls, in exchange for the release of its fighters detained by Nigeria's security forces.
'Death toll mounting'

Details of what happened on Tuesday remain unclear, with initial reports from the army suggesting the abducted geologists and surveyors, who worked at the University of Maiduguri, had been rescued.

On Tuesday, the army said the bodies of nine Nigerian soldiers and a civilian had been recovered.

But now the university has said at least five members of staff, including two academics and a driver, were killed when the heavily armed convoy made its way back to Maiduguri, in north-east Nigeria.

Several others remain missing.

Sources told the joyextra that more than 40 people, most of them soldiers and volunteers from a vigilante group, had been killed in total - although other sources suggest the number killed may rise further still.

"The death toll keeps mounting," a source told news agency AFP, adding: "More bodies are coming in."

England will next play France, a team they have not beaten since 1974 and their conquerors in the past three major tournaments

England will face France in the Women's Euro 2017 quarter-finals after beating Portugal to finish top of Group D, but they failed to sparkle against the lowest-ranked team in the tournament.

Lionesses manager Mark Sampson made 10 changes to his side and they took the lead when Portugal goalkeeper Patricia Morais kicked the ball straight to Toni Duggan, who lobbed in from 25 yards on her 50th appearance.

Portugal, who had already beaten Scotland, equalised when Diana Silva had a second chance to cross after Laura Bassett failed to clear, and Caroline Mendes tucked in.

After a poor first half, Nikita Parris restored England's lead when she waltzed through the Portugal defence to poke home from close range.

That led to an improved second-half performance, but there was a scare at the end when Siobhan Chamberlain had to save Laura Luis' late volley.

The Lionesses, the first England team - men's or women's - to finish a group with a perfect record since the 1982 men's World Cup, have not beaten France since 1974 and have lost to them in their past three major tournaments.

The French will not have been worried by this display - and Sampson will hope restoring some of the team who beat Scotland and Spain will lead to a more accomplished performance in Sunday's 19:45 BST kick-off.

They could yet face Spain again, after they qualified on goal difference despite losing to Scotland, who were eliminated.

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions has said Donald Trump's recent criticism of him is "hurtful", but that the president is a "strong leader".

Mr Trump has expressed disappointment with Mr Sessions for recusing himself from the inquiry into alleged Russia meddling in the US election.

A White House spokesman went as far as to suggest Mr Trump was considering firing the country's top prosecutor.

But Mr Sessions appeared to defend the president despite the recent slights.

"He is determined to move this country in the direction that he believes it needs to go to make it great again," Mr Sessions said of the president to Fox News on Thursday.

A woman with dementia who went missing in Florida was found by a police dog in a matter of minutes, having bottled her scent in advance.

Citrus County Sheriff's Office said the anonymous woman had used a specialist scent preservation kit.

It can hold a person's scent for up to seven years.

In a Facebook post police said she stored the scent two-and-a-half years ago, and a picture of the jar showed it was dated January 2015.

Scent preservation kits involve rubbing a pad on a person's underarm, then sealing it in a sterile jar so police dogs have a reliable scent to smell before looking for a missing person.

Manufacturers say they work better and more quickly than articles of clothing, because they are not contaminated by other people's smells or smells from the environment.

Dogs have a stronger sense of smell than humans and working police dogs are trained to sniff out drugs, people and in some cases corpses.

Some police forces around the world, including in China and Germany, have held scent samples from criminal suspects and crime scenes to help in their investigations.

But there are concerns over a high failure rate; in 2006 it was found that only a quarter of people indicated by dogs in New South Wales, Australia, turned out to be carrying drugs when they were searched.

In this case, though, the missing person was found and the dog earned a celebratory ice cream.

The White House says it will decide "soon" on the fate of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, after barrage of criticism from President Donald Trump.

In a Twitter onslaught, Mr Trump called the country's top prosecutor "weak", a day after labelling him "beleaguered".

At the White House later, Mr Trump said he was "disappointed" with Mr Sessions.

The former Alabama senator should not have recused himself from an FBI inquiry into alleged Russian meddling in the election, said the president.

Allies of Mr Sessions have indicated that he intends to stay in his post.

"Attorney General Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are E-mails & DNC server) & Intel leakers!" Mr Trump tweeted on Tuesday.
Will Sessions get fired?

Anthony Scaramucci, the president's new communications director, fanned speculation on Tuesday that the attorney general's days could be numbered.

"We'll come to a resolution soon," he said when asked by reporters about the tensions between the Republican president and top prosecutor.

An interviewer put it to Mr Scaramucci that it was pretty clear Mr Trump wants Mr Sessions gone.

"If there's this level of tension in the relationship that's public, you're probably right," Mr Scaramucci said.

Mr Sessions was in the West Wing on Monday, but did not meet the president, according to deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

The attorney general has recently asked White House aides if he can see Mr Trump to patch things up, reports AP news agency.

But Mr Scaramucci said on Tuesday: "My guess is the president doesn't want to do that."
Paul Pogba (left) reportedly helped convince Romelu Lukaku to join Manchester United

United sold record goalscorer and club captain Wayne Rooney to Everton earlier this month - and Mourinho says other players must now step up.

"Wayne was a very positive influence," he said. "We cannot say we are going to improve the group because Wayne left. No way. Or the other way around.

"He was such an important guy and good guy for us. I just think it is a new period without that face, without that leader.

"And now it is time for other people to come up."

Midfielder Michael Carrick, 35, has succeeded Rooney as club captain.

Mourinho said: "Knowing that probably it is Michael Carrick's last year, the people that are behind him, they have to prepare themselves for that."

So can that new leader be 24-year-old France midfielder Paul Pogba?

"I would say he is the leader of the young guys," said Mourinho. "He is probably the oldest of the young guys.

"He has big experience at such a young age, at the same time he's still the kid that come from the academy, the way he is in the club, the way he is in the group, in the training ground.

"He is still that kid from the academy but with his experience, with his status and with his quality on the pitch, where he is also a key player for us, I think Paul has conditions to be in a couple of years such an important guy in the club."

Pogba, who rejoined United for a world record £89m in 2016, added: "I came here to hopefully be a leader. That is how it should be.

"I want to grow up as a leader and a player as well. I can learn from the older players and become a leader."
Jose Mourinho won the Premier League title three times with Chelsea

Mourinho has confirmed for the first time that he is still looking to sign a midfield player and a wide attacker.

Speaking at a news conference before his side's friendly against Barcelona in Washington at 19:30 on Wednesday (00:30 BST Thursday), Mourinho said no progress had been made.

The Portuguese has been linked most heavily with midfielders Nemanja Matic and Eric Dier, of Chelsea and Tottenham respectively, and Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.

Mourinho said: "I am happy with my squad but I would like to have two more players. One midfield player would give me more options.

"The other is an attacking player through the wings to give me more attacking options."

He added he was "calm" about the situation and was "waiting for good news" from United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

Mourinho has previously told Woodward he would understand if he only managed to secure one more signing this summer.
Clubs are creating 'strange and out of control' market - Mourinho

Manchester United are "better equipped" to win the Premier League this season but have to be "much, much better" to challenge for the Champions League, says manager Jose Mourinho.

United won the League Cup and Europa League and finished sixth in the league in Mourinho's first season in charge.

Asked if he was targeting the domestic title this season, he told JOYEXTRA Sport: "We are better prepared for that."

United have signed Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof so far this summer.

"This season is going to be more difficult but I think we have better conditions to fight for the Premier League," Mourinho told JOYEXTRA Sport.

"I think this season we are a little bit better equipped. We are against fantastic teams, against amazing investments.

"But I believe in our group, in our spirit, in our empathy, in our togetherness. I trust my boys and we are going to try."

As Europa League holders, United qualified directly for the Champions League group stage.

"We went to the Europa League as one of the top teams, we go to the Champions League and we are not one of the top teams," Mourinho added.

"We have to be better, much better, for that objective. The base of everything is to find what I call a happy dressing room."
Mourinho wants midfielder and winger
Eric Bailly and Celta Vigo's Facundo Roncaglia were both sent off in the Europa League semi-final match

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has been given a three-match ban for his red card against Celta Vigo in the Europa League.

The 23-year-old was sent off after a mass brawl in the semi-final on 11 May and missed the final against Ajax, which United won 2-0.

However, the suspension has now been extended to include two more games.

Bailly will miss the Super Cup against Real Madrid on 8 August and United's first Champions League group match.

The Ivory Coast international's case does not qualify for an appeal because European football's governing body Uefa only overturns decisions made by the referee in cases of mistaken identity.

Bailly was sent off for a swipe at Celta's former Manchester City striker John Guidetti, with Facundo Roncaglia dismissed for retaliating.

The Premier League club also received a warning from Uefa for a late kick-off to the semi-final.
West Ham have completed the £16m signing of striker Javier Hernandez from German club Bayer Leverkusen.

The former Manchester United forward has signed a three-year contract.

In May, Hernandez - widely known by the nickname Chicharito, which means 'little pea' - became Mexico's all-time leading scorer.    "The Premier League is the best league in the world and when the opportunity came, I was desperate to sign for this club," he said.

Hernandez, 29, scored 59 goals in 156 appearances for United after arriving at Old Trafford in 2010, before joining Leverkusen for £7.3m in August 2015.

He netted 39 times in 76 matches for the Bundesliga club.

"West Ham is a historic club and very ambitious," he added.

"I've had three fantastic years playing in Spain and Germany, but England was really the first big chapter in my career and I am so happy to be back."

The deal for Hernandez follows the club record signing of Marko Arnautovic, who signed a five-year deal for a fee of £20m, which could rise to £25m.

The forward, who has been capped 62 times by Austria, scored seven times in 35 games in all competitions for Stoke City last season.
A plane passenger was tackled by fellow travellers as he tried to open an emergency door on board a flight.

Police were called to London's Luton Airport shortly before 23:00 BST on Saturday to deal with a "disruptive passenger" on a flight from Poland.

He was prevented from opening the door by passengers who "wrestled him to the floor", a witness said.

He was arrested on suspicion of endangering an aircraft, police said.

The incident happened on board Wizz Air flight W61005 from Katowice International Airport in southern Poland.
'Sat on him'

About 30 minutes before landing the man "walked from the front of the plane and sat next to a woman by the emergency exit over the wing", passenger David Salon said.

"Suddenly he lunged across her and tried to open the door. She was terrified.

"Luckily there were three big Polish men in the row behind and they and some other passengers wrestled him to the floor and sat on him," Mr Salon, 44 said.

Air crew then restrained his hands using seatbelts used in safety demonstrations.
Mr Salon, originally from Poland but now working as a chef in Oxford, said the man was Polish and in his 20s.

He had been "acting weirdly on the bus on the way to the plane in Poland", he added.

Passengers were asked to remain on board once the flight landed until police had taken the suspect away.

Bedfordshire Police confirmed the arrested man was initially taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries and was now being questioned.

Wizz Air confirmed details of the incident, saying a passenger had "become unruly and abusive".

"The Wizz crew on duty followed standard procedures to ensure the continued safe operation of the flight. Upon landing, the passenger was handed over to the respective authorities," a spokeswoman said.

"Safety and security are the top priorities of the airline and there is zero tolerance for abusive behaviour towards our passengers and staff."
Sand is the second most used resource in the world after water: it accounts for more than two thirds of everything that’s being dug out of the ground. And there isn’t a limitless supply. In fact, the UN says we might be running out.Are we running out of sand?
When most of us think of sand, we immediately think of sunny beaches and summer holidays. But actually it’s in pretty much everything that surrounds us in our everyday lives. From the walls of our homes to the glass bottles in our kitchens, the mobile phones in our hands and even the tyres on our cars Here are five reasons to worry about how much sand we use:
1. We're using it more quickly than it's being replenished

Sand can take tens of thousands of years to form: the process starts with rock being eroded in the mountains and ends, eventually, with sandy sediment being deposited in riverbeds, on beaches and on the seafloor. But we're using it at a rate that far exceeds its renewal.

Sand is literally the foundation of our society. Almost everything we build in the modern world has a concrete foundation and you cannot make concrete without sand. We use an estimated 15 billion tonnes of sand every year in the construction industry alone. That's enough to build a 20m x 20m wall around the equator every year.

As well as the construction industry, sand is used for land reclamation: dumping vast quantities of sand into the sea to form new islands. Singapore, for example, is now 20% bigger than it when it became independent in 1965. In Dubai, the palm tree-shaped Palm Jumeirah required 94 million cubic metres of sand to construct it.
2. It’s causing damage

Sand is heavy and difficult to transport, so in developing countries, sand is often extracted from the nearest convenient source. Supplies close to rapidly growing cities are highly prized and quite often that means a river bed or beach. But beaches and rivers are delicately balanced ecosystems and when a large amount of sand is removed, the balance is upset.

Although the UK is heavily dependent on offshore sand dredging, extraction only occurs in dormant ecosystems like river mouths from the ice age. These sand deposits are now in the middle of the seabed and mining them has fewer negative effects94 million cubic metres of sand were used in the construction of Dubai's Palm Jumeirah.
3. Animals and human communities need sand

Fish stocks rely on sand. The food chain in a river starts with the smallest fish – so-called bottom feeders who feed off organic matter on the sand in the riverbed. If this sand is removed, so is the source of food for these small fish. When they disappear, so does the food for the larger fish – those which would have been caught and eaten, or sold, by fishermen.

At Thane Creek in Mumbai, India, a community of fishermen have seen their livelihood disappear and as a result have themselves become sand miners.
4. Sand offers the environment a natural protection

As demand for sand outstrips supply, beaches are disappearing and riverbeds are being dredged ever deeper. This reduces the natural protection that sand offers.

Without sand a beach is unable to protect the coastline from the action of waves and chunks of land can be quickly undermined and fall into the sea. Houses and farmland adjacent to the coast are also at increased risk of flooding, which can leave homes and crops ruined.

Riverbeds without sand are much deeper, meaning the banks can be undermined and could collapse. Dredged rivers can change course unexpectedly and are also at increased risk of flooding.
5. It can be criminal

Extracting sand for construction is so lucrative that in some countries it has led to the formation of criminal gangs.

The so-called sand mafia uses violence, intimidation and corruption to ensure they are able to mine sand even in places where it has been outlawed. Cases of armed men threatening locals and taking sand have been reported across the globe, from islands in the Caribbean to Cambodia.

Engineer creates giant artificial ice cones called 'ice stupas'
They can provide water in arid region affected by climate change
Making one requires no pumps or power

In the far north of India, a cold mountain desert is the stunning backdrop to an unprecedented icy structure.
This is a land of extremes, where rainfall is scarce and temperatures range wildly from torrid to far below freee locals say it's the only place in the world where a man, sitting in the sun with his feet in the shade, can suffer sunstroke and frostbite at the same time.
It's the Ladakh region -- meaning "land of high passes" -- sandwiched between two of the world's tallest mountain ranges, the Himalayas and the Kunlun.
Rainfall is rare here. Water, essential for irrigating the farmlands that are the lifeblood of the local population, mostly comes from melting snow and ice.
But climate change is making this land even drier, leaving farmers without water in the crucial planting months of April and May, right before the glaciers start to melt in the summer sun.
One man's solution to the problem? Make more glaciers.
The "Ice Stupa"
In 2014 a local mechanical engineer, Sonam Wangchuk, set out to solve the water crisis of the Ladakh.
The natural glaciers are shrinking due to rising global temperatures. For that reason, they provide far less water in early spring but then release a lot in the summer heat, shrinking even more.
Wangchuk had a simple idea: he wanted to balance this natural deficit by collecting water from melting snow and ice in the cold months, which would normally go to waste, and store it until spring, just when farmers need it the most.
"I once saw ice under a bridge in May and understood that it's the sun that makes the ice melt, not ambient temperature," he told joyextra
"I realized that ice can last a long time, even at low altitudes."
He then build a two-story prototype of an "ice stupa", a cone of ice that he named after the traditional mound-like sacred monuments that are found throughout Asia.

Barcelona signed Neymar from Brazilian club Santos for £48.6m in 2013

Paris St-Germain are reportedly ready to pay £196m for Barcelona forward Neymar.

One hundred and ninety-six million pounds for one player. Just let that sink in.

It is more than double the current world record fee of £89m paid by Manchester United for Paul Pogba and almost two and a half times that paid by Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo inBoth United and Real have an estimated worth of almost £3bn, according to Forbes, so it is not beyond the realms of comprehension that they could afford Neymar.

But how are Paris St-Germain, not in the top 10 of the world's richest clubs, able to spend almost a third of their value on one player?

Latest Neymar gossip - 'Brazilian has 90% chance of leaving Barcelona'
Could they structure the payments?
Will it be £196m in one go? Instalments? A deposit-plus-interest-free payments for three years?

Football finance expert Dr Rob Wilson of Sheffield Hallam University shed some light on how they might come to an agreement:

"What you tend to find is when clubs buy a player - for large amounts or small - they will stagger these payments over a course of a contract," Wilson says.

"Let's assume PSG pay £200m for Neymar and he signs a 10-year contract - they will pay £20m per year to Barcelona. Of course, the selling club has to agree to that length of time.

"You expect there to be a decent upfront payment though. When Cristiano Ronaldo signed for Real Madrid from Manchester United for £80m in 2009, the English club demanded the fee was paid in full before it was allowed to happen.

"Regarding Neymar, I think you'll probably see a substantial initial payment - let's say £100m - and a couple of payments afterwards to make the balance."
